FEATHERBED SIDE STAND COMPLETE FITS ALL FEATHERBEDS
THIS STAND IS BASED ON THE ORIGINAL NORTON DESIGN. THE CLAMP BORE IS NOMINALLY 1 1/4” AND DESIGNED TO LOCATE ON THE FRAME RAIL WITHOUT GRIPPING OR CRUSHING IT, THE ROTATIONAL LOAD BEING TAKEN BY THE FLAT PAD AT THE TOP OF THE REAR CLAMP WHICH LEANS AGAINST THE ENGINE PLATES. THE STANDS ARE SUPPLIED ASSEMBLED BUT UNPAINTED ALLOWING THE FITTER TO ADJUST ANGLE OF LEAN AND PARKED POSITION OF LEG TO OPTIMUM REQUIRED FOR HIS APPLICATION. THE UNIQUE NON GRIPPING/CRUSHING DESIGN OF THIS STAND AND ITS ADJUSTABILITY MAY MAKE IT SUITABLE FOR OTHER BIKES. FRAME RAIL WIDTH WOULD NEED TO BE ABOUT 1 1/4” SLIGHTLY SMALLER COULD POSSIBLY BE PACKED.
SUBSEQUENT TO WRITING THIS CUSTOMERS HAVE SUCCESSFULLY FITTED THIS STAND TO THE P11.
STAND IS SUPPLIED COMPLETE WITH STAINLESS FASTENINGS, AN IMPROVED FULCRUM (PIVOT) PIN ALONG WITH AN ILLUSTRATED INSTRUCTION SHEET INDICATING HOW TO FINE TUNE FOR OPTIMUM POSITION.

FOLLOWING IS AN EXCERPT FROM OUR INSTRUCTIONS:
I (ROGER) SORTED OUT MY SAMPLES, A TOTAL OF 3 PLUS ANOTHER 3 ON BIKES AND NOT ONE WAS THE SAME. THE 54 WIDELINE HAS A VERY SPINDLY LOOKING STAND, THE 650SS A STURDIER LOOKING JOB, BOTH ORIGINAL, THE 650 STAND HIT THE EXHAUST PIPE, THE MANXMAN HAS A RATHER CLUMSY LOOKING REPRODUCTION ITEM, THIS HIT THE FRAME. SETTING THE ANGLES ON THE STAND IS QUITE EASY BUT THE OPTIMUM POSITION EACH APPLICATION SEEMS TO VARY SLIGHTLY, RIM SIZE, SHOCKER LENGTH, WEIGHT OF BIKE, ALLOY ENGINE PLATES ETC ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE SO WE SUPPLY THE STAND UNPAINTED AND WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO A DRY RUN WHEN FITTING AND ADJUST AS NECESSARY PRIOR TO PAINTING. IDEALLY YOU SHOULD DISMANTLE THE ENTIRE PRIMARY AND REMOVE THE INNER COVER, STAND IS POSITIONED ROUGHLY ADJACENT TO THE LARGE SUMP PLUG TAKING THE CENTRE LINE OF THE SUMP PLUG, THE PIVOT PIN IS ROUGHLY 1/2” TO 1” REARWARDS. FIRST THING TO ADJUST IS THE LEAN ANGLE THEN GO FROM THERE.
PERFECTION TAKES TIME. IF I WAS FITTING THIS TO A BIKE OF MY OWN WITHOUT ANY PRIMARY TRANSMISSION OR CASES I WOULD EXPECT IT TO TAKE A GOOD HALF DAY TO ACHIEVE A PERFECT FIT, SHAPING THE FOOT AROUND THE EXHAUST PIPE, GETTING THE SWING AND LEAN ANGLE SPOT ON ETC AND THAT IS NOT INCLUDING ANY DISMANTLING OR RE-FITTING ANY ANCILLARY COMPONENTS THAT ARE IN THE WAY, PRIMARY, EXHAUST ETC NOR PAINTING THE STAND.
