CAMSHAFT SPROCKET AND EARLY ALTERNATOR CRANK SHAFT NUT
THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF CAMSHAFT SPROCKET NUTS USED ON THE HEAVY TWINS, THIS IS THE EARLIER ONE 5/8" X 20 TPI 15/16" (24MM) AF 3/8" (9.5MM) LONG OF WHICH 1/16" (1.6MM) IS A TURNED CIRCULAR PORTION ACTING AS A WASHER. THIS NUT WOULD BE USED ON ALL TWINS FROM THE EARLIEST THROUGH TO 1971 UNLESS A REV COUNTER WAS USED IN WHICH CASE THE NUT IS 067684 (FITS THE SAME BUT HAS A SLOT TO DRIVE THE REV COUNTER GEARBOX) WHEN THE POINTS WERE MOVED TO THE END OF THE CAMSHAFT IN 1971. THE NUT CHANGED TO PART NUMBER 067774.
INCIDENTALLY D12/942 ALSO FITS EARLY ALTERNATOR TYPE CRANKSHAFTS THAT DO NOT REQUIRE A SLEEVE NUT AND THE GEARBOX MAINSHAFT (CLUTCH END).
DOMINATORS THAT REQUIRE A SLEEVE NUT WOULD USE PART NUMBER 24947 AND COMMANDO WOULD USE PART NUMBER 060387.
