OLD CARBS OFTEN PROVE DIFFICULT TO SET UP. POOR RUNNING, MISFIRES, BAD TICKOVER AND FUEL LEAKS ARE COMMONPLACE. ADDITIONALLY IDLE CIRCUITS CAN SOMETIMES CORRODE AND BLOCK RESULTING IN A MOTORCYCLE THAT ONLY WORKS AT MEDIUM TO HIGH R.P.M.
MOUNTING FLANGES ARE OFTEN DISTORTED RESULTING IN AIR LEAKS AND STICKING SLIDES. ETHANOL IN FUEL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE. BOTH BODIES AND SLIDES CAN WEAR BADLY, AGAIN CAUSING AIR LEAKS AND MISFIRES. MUCH TIME AND MONEY CAN BE WASTED.
UPGRADING TO THE PREMIER MK1 CONCENTRIC WILL OBVIOUSLY ERADICATE THE PROBLEMS MENTIONED ABOVE BUT THEY ALSO HAVE OTHER ATTRIBUTES SUCH AS THE PRECISION FORGED HARD ANODISED SLIDE WHICH WEARS FAR LESS. THE SOLID "STAY UP" FLOAT MADE FROM A MILITARY GRADE ETHANOL RESISTANT MATERIAL WITH STEEL EARS TO HOLD THE FLOAT NEEDLE ALLOWING FOR FUEL LEVEL ADJUSTMENT SHOULD THAT PROVE NECESSARY. THE IDLE CIRCUIT IS TOTALLY RE-DESIGNED MAKING THE TICKOVER EVEN AND WITH A LOWER R.P.M. LAST BUT NOT LEAST APART FROM BETTER RUNNING, GENERALLY THERE SEEMS TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT IN M.P.G. LIKE FOR LIKE AN IMPROVEMENT OF 20% HAS BEEN REPORTED.
THIS IS A MATCHED PAIR OF THE NEW AMAL 32MM PREMIER CARBS. THEY HAVE A 32MM BORE AND FEATURE THE PUNCTURE PROOF STAY UP FLOAT, THE HARD ANODISED THROTTLE SLIDE AND THE NEW PRECISION ENGINEERED IDLE CIRCUIT.
TYPICALLY THIS PACK WOULD BE USED ON NORTON COMMANDO MK 2A 1974-1975
